| First
Job: |
Ed's
first job was designing high-rise steel structures at Erkel-Greenfield
in Los Angeles. He moved on to Robert Englekirk, Inc., then launched
his own firm. |
| Defining
Moment: |
As
a child, Ed liked taking things apart to see how they worked. His
parents boasted he was an engineer in the making, but kept silent
on his complete inability to reassemble those many radios, toasters
and motorized toys. After decades of experience, Ed can now finish
projects without ending up with a bucket of orphaned parts. |
| Little
Known Fact: |
He's
a oenophile. |
| Dream
Project: |
A
naked building. It is always fun working with a visionary
architect to design a building with an architecturally expressed
structure. There is something elegant about the natural beauty of
the structure. Covering it up always seems a shame. |
| Outside
the Office: |
He
makes the grade(s) A professor of Structural Engineering at the
California State University at Northridge, Ed teaches advanced
structural design and earthquake engineering.
